LIGERS N' DREAMS PRESENTS

|

ligers sep.jpg

A night of dirty rock and hair sprayed dreams

Ligers N' Dreams takes it back to the late seventies,
eighties and early nineties when rock was rock, jeans were truly tight and hair was truly big.
Think early Guns N' Roses, AC/DC, Led Zeppelin, Motley Crue, Bowie, Aerosmith, Patti Smith, The Rolling Stones.

So come join us - Get your rocks off with the ligers in the smoky half light.
Drink and dance in the dark, then drink some more. Make up your face and glam up your hair. Peel on your strides and pad up your tops. Get your cowboy boots out of the closet and get down to rock with us on October 4th.

This is Studio 54 in leopard skin and mascara. This is Axl Rose¹s wedding. This is Debby Harry taking her knickers off back stage at CBs. This is Ligers N' Dreams.

What the press say

³For those about to rockŠ here¹s where you can indulge your Axl Rose and leather-trousered fantasies and hear the Bon Jovi, AC/DC and Whitesnake riffs that so few other London clubs play.² TimeOut "Skin-tight leather debauchery, bleached-toxic hair spray fumes and sex, drugs and rock ¹n roll glitter under electric light. This is hard, glam rock at its dirty best."
The Times On-Line

"The Ligers n' Dreams DJs get on the case with a playlist to rival Bill and Ted's. This is possibly the only place in London where you can practice your Axl Rose tantrums and air your leather strides."

BearsuitFINAL-2.jpgBEARSUIT

Stop-start boy-girl cutie-killer six-piece with everything from cinematic waltzes to catchy electro disco and hard punk screaming riot grrl noise. A mix of Belle and Sebastian, Huggy Bear, and Sonic Youth with electronic twists and turns, and screamy art punk.
The band first captured the imagination of the late John Peel, notching up four Radio 1 sessions for the legendary DJ and scoring three top five hits in his Festive 50, including scooping the number 2 slot in his post-humous chart.
Already championed by the likes of Steve Lamacq, Huw Stevens, Phill Jupitus, XFM, the NME, Artrocker and Plan B, the six piece release their new album OH:IO on Fantastic Plastic on September the 10th. With a live show including flute, guitars, keyboards, samples, cornet, singing, bells, accordion, theremin, drums, oh and a keytar plus a variety of outlandish stage gear - blood soaked prom dresses, marching bands, 'nurses of death' outfits, spacemen and silver bear-bot wear to name but a few - Bearsuit are certainly a band to catch live!

LE TETSUO

Le Tetsuo met in 2002, when it was fashionable to wear plastic grapes around your neck and drink lager through a straw. These things may or may not still be in fashion, but since then this delightful noise-pop riot-boy/grrrl three-piece have gone on to win the largest music competition in the Eastern region, share sell out stages with the likes of Prinzhorn Dance School, Screaming Tea Party, Kaito, PRE and Bearsuit, stun festival audiences in Holland, not to mention the skinny be-jeaned hipsters at last year's Tales of the Jackalope and all the while enjoying a national radio seal of approval from DJs John Peel, Steve Lamacq, Rob Da Bank and those good people at XFM and Resonance FM. A move to London over a year ago has seen the band grab the attention of countless gig goers, dancing shoes first. All that sweat, applause and yelping has guided them safely into the hands of Parlour Records, for their first release proper.

2 HOT 2 SWEAT

2 Hot 2 Sweat formed in early 2007 when Matt Leuw and Mia Lane decided to put the sometimes disturbing contents of their brains to music. We hope the results will make you snigger, cower and jig, not necessarily in that order. The debut 2 Hot 2 Sweat single "Your Space Or Mine" on sexy clear vinyl, not so sexy CD single and downright repulsive download is released in early 2008 on NROne Records.

UPSET THE RHYTHM PRESENTS

utrstock.jpgUPSET THE RHYTHM PRESENTS

SIC ALPS are a lysergic rock and roll two piece from San Francisco.
Matt Hartman (Coachwhips, Cat Power) plays drums and sings, while Mike Donovan (Big Techno Werewolves, Sounds of the Barbary Coast, Yikes!) plays guitar and sings.
Their latest, and fourth, long-player 'EZ' was released in July via the ever-awesome Siltbreeze and is all cosmic concrète creak meets high-end neo-glam pop.

THE PHEROMOANS are five young men from the suburban hard shoulder that lies between London and Brighton. The quintet have a cavalier approach to their intruments.
Everyone seems to get a go at eveything, with an admirable disregard for whether they can play it very well or not. Somehow this approach translates into stomping garage rock and no-fi, good time blues par excellence.

GRAFFITI ISLAND are Conan, Cherise and Pete - a spooked lo-fi outfit from London town. The trio deliver swamped-out pop songs about wolves and mountain people, pet snakes and turtles, in stark monotone over a sparse platter of drums, bass and samples here and there. They have a debut 7" planned through House Anxiety in the coming months as well as a split tape with Pens and Male Bonding!

161926721_l-1.jpgMISTY'S BIG ADVENTURE

Misty's Big Adventure, the name taken from a story in the 1968 children's book The Magic Roundabout Annual about a kitten, Misty, who meets a dog and they become friends, is a nine piece band from Birmingham. They make an eclectic mix of jazz, lounge, psychedelia, two tone, pop and punk, "producing the most uplifting, life affirming tunes you will hear since Louie Armstrong played with the Lovin Spoonful."
Grandmaster Gareth sings in a deadpan, maudlin style, which is accompanied by lively guitar, keyboards, brass players and occasional samples as well as toy instruments. Contrasting Gareth's dour lounge-singer act is Erotic Volve, the nicest monster in pop. He is Misty's mascot inspiring any audiences to move to the music, costumed in a full-body red sack with blue hands swinging about him, he dances continuously and in an exhaustingly frenetic manner, often moving out into the audience. Dave from The Zutons loves them, so much so that he has invited them on tour, twice. Misty's Big Adventure has also been invited to support The Magic Numbers, The Guillemots and The Pipettes in the past.

THE BOBBY McGEES

Fronted by a man who achieves the impossible feat of coming across as cuddly and amiable whilst barking lyrics like "I'll slash your throat and gouge out your eyes", The Bobby McGees are a clever assemblage of ukuleles, sailor attire, vaguely psychotic odes to romantic misadventure, bags of banter and face paint.

"More Twee than Mickey Mouse in soft focus, and more core than an apple convention - the inventors of tweecore are The Bobby McGee's."

SHIMMY RIVERS and and CANAL

Shimmy Rivers and and Canal - "a band who don't exactly believe in following things like rules and order. As such, their music is complex and fluid identity, embracing anything from the fractious sounds that pricked up people's rollnecks in early eighties New York, to a glowering sense of paranoia and disquiet delivered by abused brass and disdainful vocals" - Playlouder

Special guests

Maps and Atlases offer songs that wrestle themselves from flailing, algebraic fits of spazzy guitar notes and drum ruptures to lulling, voice-driven melodies that speak stories using lyrical images strung together like soup cans chasing a Cadillac. Mostly influenced by experimental and technically adept musicians such as Hella, Don Caballero, and Psych-Folkies Devendra Banhart and Six Organs of Admittance, Maps and Atlases create a distinctive blend of the intricate and organic.

Darren hayman.gifDARREN HAYMAN

Darren Hayman and the Secondary Modern play a proper headline set!
Songs old and new!
Songs from Pram Town!

"Darren Hayman used to be in Hefner who were Britain's Largest Small Band 1996 - 2002. In that time Darren recorded 12 radio sessions for John Peel and continues to release solo and band albums at a rate of knots. This year he has released three albums already, a compilation of Great British Holiday EPs, a 2CD re-release of the classic Fidelity Wars album and an album by his bluegrass band Hayman, Watkins, Trout and Lee. Darren will perform with a full band and play songs from throughout his career."

Plus Supports from:

ESIOTROT

Formed late 2003/early2004 (can't really remember!) Esiotrot started as a four piece consisting of Adrian Fleet, Catherine Loye, Duncan Barrett and Matthew Rains. They have released a self titled (lazy) ep in 2005 made of pretty much the first songs they ever made up, other than a couple that have since disappeared into the ether. It was pretty rough and jangly. Early 2006 Thomas Stimson joined the band ..boards and glockenspiel as the band looked to fill out the sound a little more, which seemed to work ok. They had a few more songs that were filled out with keyboards and then wrote a few extra with Thomas contributing for the off. They took these songs to a studio early 2006 and made the album Schmesiotrot. There was still something missing, and, as Duncan, Thomas and Adrian were all living with John and Thom they'd occasionally jam with us in their basement on trumpet and trombone. They liked this so much they asked them to join the band. They added parts to a handful of songs on Schmesiotrot, which finally saw the light of day (officially) in January 2007. In August 2006 they were spotted by one Alistair Fitchett at the Betsey Trotwood, who liked there show and they rough copy of the album so much he asked to release an ep, which also came out in January 2007. They are currently writing new songs, not sure what/when for yet. How boring was that?

HEXICON

Mike, Paul and Tom started Hexicon in 2004, beginning life as a lo-fi voice/guitar/french horn combo. Brief sojourns to Wales and regular slots in both London and in Kent has since resulted in the band sharing bills with the likes of Bert Jansch, Fanfarlo, Super Furry Animals, Fuzzman, Mystery Jets, Fireworks Night, James Yuill and Esiotrot.. More recently, Hexicon have expanded to accommodate a new rhythm section, with Greg and Andy joining on drums, and Giles playing bass. Tom has been carving a reputation as a jobbing indie Horn player, featuring on the most recent releases by Darren Hayman and Rotifer and performing live with Mathew Sawyer and the Ghosts. In April we visited Soup Studios to record a single with Simon Trought. 'Narissa I Won't', is going to be backed with a reinvented live favourite, 'Sweet Things' as the B-side. The single will be followed by the first Hexicon album, to be released on the Mentalist Association label later this year! They recorded in Gillingham with Greg Webster, and are working on the last few bits at the Bunker in London.

BEACON

Beacons is the song-writing pseudonym of Craig Gell. Based in South East London, Beacons started out in 2006 as a series of home recordings of mildy psychedelic folk songs, featuring various collected instruments and found sounds.
Occasionally performed live by a small collective of musical friends.

LAST MAN STANDING

BLUE BAMBINOS

London, England XX September 2008 - Blue Bambinos publish a new venture in noise, borne of the wish to champion a paradoxically new and yet retro sound.
Beat vocals, howling musical saw, lo-fi guitar sounds and a loud dirty primal rhythm pulsate throughout. It is neither blues, garage, punk, real r n'b, rockabilly or jazz, and yet weirdly, and slightly uncomfortably, it is all of them.Vocals and Musical Saw. Justin Young, charismatic but chaotic. His energy is intoxicating and will either urge you to stand up and dance, or get up and slap him.Guitar. Callum Sadler, deep dirty rattling blues, a dissident earsplitting player.Bass. Jose Pereira, brooding dub player with a past of smokey Venezuelan reggae.
Drums. Steve Dwane, old school punk. His endurance is limitless and, like all the Bambinos, the sound is malleable and yet unyielding. The release of this debut album by the Blue Bambinos is an examination of their various moods and raucous style. It follows their 2007 EP 'Ethos - Noise from the Thames Delta' and was modestly recorded on reel to reel audio tape one day in the early months of 2008. For the last two years the Blue Bambinos have played an elemental part in London's live music circuit, have aired live on Resonance FM, and last year saw them play at Bestival on the Isle of Wight. This year they embarked on a brief tour of Como and outer Milan, Italy.

GOONITE CLUB PRESENTS

Bands Playing Live !!!!!!!

Their Hearts Were Full Of Spring

They are travellers and troubadours, waifs and wanderers who have had the good fortune of stumbling across each other one night at a ramshackle gin palace in south east London. United in apathy, they write wide-eyed indiepop songs that are tinged with a sense of melancholic wonder at a world that can hold such beauty and such despair all at once. Their first single, A Question of Trust, was self-released last year, to critical acclaim in the indie press. It was given national radio play by Steve Lamacq, Huw Stephens and on Tom Robinson's "Introducing..." show for the BBC.

"Uplifting, beautiful pop for the disillusioned and faint hearted. It's hard to really say any more than that. THWFOS are a great big, crazy happy band and A Question of Trust is a great example of their craft. Renowned for unpredictable live shows, eclectic tastes and an advanced opposition to the mainstream culture of mediocrity, this band demands to be looked out for and listened to. So best you do!" - -Stay In The Box Their live shows are colourful and joyous, and Their Hearts Were Full Of Spring encourage audience participation. There are listen-and-repeat percussion classes, the baking of cakes and the breaking of hearts, and some fairly shambolic flower arranging. Think of a fancy dress food-fight at an afternoon funeral and you'd be at the right table.

Sandra and The Memory Machine

On her own words: "My name is Sandra Marie. I come from Australia but my family's histoire started in Croatia. I started writing when I was a wee lassie and have made good use of the vocal chords that I have been born with. I also play the ukulele. I love the ukulele, I love Magnetic Fields and and they use ukulele. So did Marilyn Monroe and David Byrne and to me both are very cool. It's True, I have yet to learn "When I'm Cleaning Windows". It's fun being in charge of The Memory Machine. It involves at least two 70's space synths and some kick ass rhythm. Some call it FOLKTRONICA, to me SANDRA AND THE MEMORY MACHINE is still a mystery but that is a good thing.
I ain't afraid to say that it's very primal and magical. Come along some time, perhaps you'll feel better afterwards."

A Classic Education

They are more epic, multi-layered and expansive.
Or at least they are on the evidence of 'Stay Son', which would make for a truly classy and classic 7" single that you could surely file next to the likes of Arcade Fire and Decemberists with impunity. Quick, someone stump up the cash!" (Alistair Fitchett, Tangents)

Moustache of Insanity

One day while Nik and Bill were discussing politics in Bill's living room a great music fell through the roof. It immediately jumped onto the guitar and shouted abuse at the keyboard. Then it ran around the room and sang a song into the microphone. It then knocked a can of beer off the coffee table. After two minutes of chasing the music through the house Nik and Bill finally caught it and tied it up with string in the corner. The music was there to stay and Moustache of Insanity were born.

THE HYSTERICAL INJURY (from Bath-UK)

The Hysterical Injury formed in february 2007.
The Hysterical Injury are Winners of 2008's Battle of the Bands, Porter Butt, BATH.
The Hysterical Injury make Noise Pop.

CHIMERA ROUGE

Chimera Rouge are a young, indie band from North London.
They have have played with the likes of Bombay Bicycle Club, Lets Wrestle, Partyshank and many more at venues such as King's College (KCLSU), Camden Roundhouse, The Dome, and Islington Bar Academy.

ALICE ROCK

ALICE ROCK are a quirky (and slightly eccentric) two piece poppy (?) punky (?) hard to describe (!!) band from London. Alice on guitar/vocals and
Tabby on drums are attempting to break the mould with addictive music that is certainly unique - why not give Wonderland a try?
ALICE ROCK is actually a girl (yes this is actually her real name!) who embarked on what is becoming an amazing musical journey following a crazy situation that was sadly representative of today's somewhat bizarre world.
Alice's raw passion and emotion made her unstoppable as she wrote and recorded her debut album 'FINDING WONDERLAND' alone in her bedroom studio and despite virtually foaming at the mouth as a result of the effort this took, achieved astonishing results. Her songs are often full of anger, pain and disbelief, yet she draws the listener in with humor and wit that clearly comes straight from the heart. ALICE ROCK evolved somewhat in mid 2006 when ALICE met TABBY and the pair gelled perfectly to form what has become a unique and loveable two piece band. They also just so happened to share the same taste in stripy jumpers. The pair recorded ALICE ROCK's second album 'YESTERDAY's MAKEUP' together in 2007 in their now infamous bedroom studio and are currently performing their music throughout the UK.

The Devils Underground

Halloween Special !!!!!!!!

devils-underground-v1.jpgThe Bands:

Rosa Alchemica

"The truth is a lie and the lie is the truth I see your eyes but I can't see you" - lyrics from: When It Rains Down

Rosa Alchemica is a 4 piece alternative new wave post punk band playing upbeat melancholic songs that don't sound too far from what you'd get if Joy Division was jamming with the Pixies on acid.  Guitars which are subtle and melodic at times then bursting into a wall of noise. Music to dance up and down to and a must for anyone with low serotonin levels.

Listen Lisse

Everything you didn't expect from a duo and a girl playing fire on the
guitar, kicking on a drum while singing with vocals that will send you off
into a world of melodic madness and intrigue. Melodramatic pop songs mixed
with occult sub plots and glittered with gleaming melody.

"The sound is remote and distant but you are drawn close to hear its intimacies. There is no ice queen here to trick and deceive for the sound has its own magical qualities that will tempt, beguile, enlighten and you will stay a while to listen, whilst the sound will stay with you." - Biddle Bro's

Electric Litany

When you come close to listen to Electric Litany you'll hear something like the intensity of Godspeed You Black Emperor and the excitement of Explosions in the Sky.  Alex plays his magic guitar and layers the sounds with a loop giving you the feeling you are listening to an orchestra of guitars.  The bass and drumming is gentle at times and bursts into emotion at others making this band a fascination to watch live as you are unsure exactly what it is that you are seeing but you are glad that you did.  It's a religious procession in a hot summer, a sea of distant guitars and psalms.

Tessellators

Tessellators share a love of Built to Spill, Captain Beefheart, Battles (especially live), The Band and Fugazi. Individual members' tastes tend to vary and this is not an exhaustive list of their influences.

The four Tessellators were in the band 'the Hundred Handed' for several years. Sadly for all concerned, their singer & driving force announced that he would leave (amicably) in late-2006, which led to the creation of Tessellators after Dan, Beare, Alex & Moh resolved to start a new venture together.

Dan plays the guitar & sings. Beare plays the bass, the guitar & sings. Alex plays the drums. Moh plays the keyboard, the guitar & sings. At some point in the future any member of the band might play something else, like the tambourine or the trumpet. Multi-tasking is good.

The name 'Tessellators' could be a reference to how the individual shapes that each member creates fit together to make a larger, more complex pattern. Maybe this will be suggested in print at some point in the future. Similarly, 'Tessellators' could be a reference to how the band members have to efficiently organise their equipment into a confined storage space week after week. It is unlikely that this will ever be suggested in print. The naming process was long and involved a complex points system that was largely ineffective.

Alex & The Ligers
Alex J Dunne has traveled the world cutting his teeth in music, from North and South America. Inspired by a variety of characters that have shaped this warming and very Anglo-American sound into something really quite special, and more importantly, universal.
The band formed  in 2007 and with the combination of the band to Alex's heartfelt lyrics, began to bring deeper layers to the sound and open up an even broader musical canvas to explore.

Chris Aliano and The Stages of Dan
"A folk-rock band hailing from foggy London town, the trio combine to create memorable and catchy tunes that will get you off your seat. In all, this is a refreshing new sound that veers away from the usual indie scene and is looking to give folk a face-lift"

Thomas J Speight
Compared to the likes of Fionn Regan, Bright Eyes and a young Bob Dylan.
Tj Speight crafts songs that charm and engage his audience with a certain spark that makes you want to hear his songs again and again. Currently touring the country all through October and November

Mike Newsham
Having played all over the country supporting the likes of Jesse Malin, Guillemots, The Yards, Laura Veirs, Deadstring Brothers, Mohair, Shed Seven, Four Day Hombre and Eileen Rose.
Hailed as one of the best guitarists in his hometown York, "with his playing so fluid and textured and so damn fast! but still tidy, its a show in itself"

Benedict & Danie
Crafting their tunes on the shores of Brighton 'B&D' go from being a proper-folky three piece playing dark footstomping, accordion-y traditionals that their ancestors forgot to write about,
fires, the sea and winding rivers, to playing anti-folky poppy songs with glockenspiels about how bloody good trees are and how awfully nice it would be to get married. And they're quite good at it.

Songs from the Shows are the results of an experiment to eradicate the traditional guitarist

SPECIAL GUESTS

THE LOCUST

What did you want, sonic inducer, sheep in wool coats dumpster diving for forever hidden treasure? What did you think, summer cesspool sleeper, English wasn't a language conceived for business? Allow me, please, to introduce New Erections, the third full-length from the Southern California decade-plus young endeavor, The Locust, as a post-futurist to primitive again strangled tongue-shearer just 'cause the business is lickin' pretty bad.
Circumstances prohibiting, if the Locust could've soundtracked the previous two World War's they probably would've. Time ain't always on our side. Fortunate for ears and unfortunate for Earth, this procession leader of an album is a hell of a charm with New Erections clocking in at twenty-three minutes proving a potent and primal alarm that sludges along peach hairs before this breaking levy.
Here is New Erections, eleven tracks deep and somehow totally anthemic, throbbing in the void of those past limps crumbled by planes and bleak brains, blanketed by soft skulls with electric socket glory holes for eyes that worship the steel wool pulled over them.
New Erections, a celebratory prost! to the old photos of you, mid-twenties, with friends pissing on GG's shallow grave now under-exposed by the current you, over-miserable hollow white-collar power-slave.
New Erections, later Saddam, hey Gomorrah...No more goose-stepping around the issue, huh? No more domes stuffed with down tissue, right?
New Erections, find you pill synthetic sweat sympathetic, poker-face vague with Viagra, on your knees praying of drawing that magic card and hard up for hard-ons.
New Erections, mighty kind of your snitching hairy palms to loosen the grips on strangling blood-filled phallic police tips.
New Erections, with the world's voluptuous vomit crashing in all around, towers a true testament in the inevitable wake of tidal sewage.
C'mon stiffs, we must demolish and level together... in the dead of everything...in the cold-sweat of the night, heat of the freon freedom fight, New Erections is exactly what we wanted.

Damo-Suzuki-poster.jpgDamo Suzuki

Suzuki Kenji, born January 16, 1950, in Japan, popularly nicknamed Damo Suzuki, is a singer probably best known for his membership in German krautrock group CAN.

Suzuki spent the late 1960s wandering around Europe, often busking, during which time he would only have been a teenager.

When Malcolm Mooney left Can after recording their first album Monster Movie, Holger Czukay and Jaki Liebezeit encountered Suzuki singing on a street in Munich, Germany whilst the two were sitting outside at a street café. They invited him to join the group, and he did, performing with them that evening.

Suzuki was with Can from 1970 to 1973, recording a number of well-regarded albums such as Tago Mago and Ege Bamyasi. His freeform, often improvised lyrics, sung in no one particular language gelled with Can's rolling, psychedelic sound.

Suzuki converted to the Jehovah's Witness faith when he married his German girlfriend, who was also a Jehovah's Witness, after the release of the album Future Days, and retired from music in 1974.

He returned to music in 1983, and currently leads what is known as Damo Suzuki's Network- as he tours, he performs live improvisational music with various local musicians (so-called "Sound Carriers") from around the world, thus building up a 'network' of musicians that he has and can collaborate with.

Kawabata Makoto
Guitarist, performer on numerous traditional instruments, composer, improviser, mixing engineer, producer, leader of the Acid Mothers Temple, speed guru.

"Music, for me, is neither something that I create, nor a form of self-expression. All kinds of sounds exist everywhere around us, and my performances solely consist of picking up these sounds, like a radio tuner, and playing them so that people can hear them. However, maybe because my reception is somewhat off, I am unable to perfectly reproduce these sounds. That is why I spend my days rehearsing.
Where do these sounds come from? Who is sending them out? That is not something for me to know, and neither is there any way that I could find out. I simply believe that they come from the 'cosmos'. (Maybe other people would call God the source). Since I was a small child I have been prone to hearing ringing sounds in my ears and other sound phantasms. At the time, I believed that these were messages aimed directly at me from a UFO, and so I would gaze up at the sky. But once I started playing music myself, I came to feel that these noises were a kind of pure sound. And I promised myself that one day I would be able to play those sounds myself. It is only recently that I have begun to feel that I have been able to come close to reproducing these sounds in my solo guitar work, and in my INUI project.
However, in June of 1999, I finally discovered my own 'cosmos' and I experienced an instant of total union with it!! That 'cosmos' is still tiny in size - although any cosmos can, by its very nature, be infinitely huge or infinitely small. The energy and vibrations contained within that it far exceeded my imagination in scope and beauty. I can only describe the miraculous instant when my 'cosmos' accepted my consciousness as MAGIC."
(Kawabata Makoto. July 8th 2000)

THE KITS

After starting out in the city of Melbourne, Australia, The Kits have now relocated to London
where their sound has come into its own. Drawing comparisons with The Saints, Gang of Four and The Sonics, The Kits' tales of crime, addiction and short-lived romances have resulted in a rapturous following and earned them recent supports with The Dirtbombs,Wolfmother, The Saints and The Nightmarchers, as well as rave reviews in magazines like Kerrang and Artrocker.

Harking back to the days when rock'n'roll was still considered a threat to the world's youth,
The Kits are set to conquer the world with the release of their long-awaited debut album. A
garage rock'n'roll band at heart, they've taken the stomp and grit of the '50s and '60s and
given it the injection of eternal youth through relentless guitar hooks and snarling vocals.
